Premier Power Larne Half Marathon donation paints a good picture with Action for Children

The Premier Power Larne Half Marathon & Walk has boosted local charity, Action for Children’s Larne Parental Support project, with a donation totalling £3,000.

Premier Power donated £3000 to Action for Children's Larne Parental Support

The award was raised by a record-breaking number of runners taking part in the race along the Antrim Coast Road route in March. Funding raised through the race was matched by the sponsor, Ballylumford’s Premier Power Limited.

Action for Children’s Larne Parental Support project works with thousands of children across Northern Ireland to tackle disadvantage and social exclusion, as well as helping disabled children and supporting their families. Based  in St Anthony’s PS, Larne, it operates a wide range of services aimed at improving early life experience for children in the local community.

Premier Power’s Communications Manager, Barbara Stevenson, said:

“We are delighted to help a local project doing fantastic work here in Larne. Although Action for Children is a national charity, it is only when you visit a project on the ground that you realise the real difference they make in communities like Larne and many more across Northern Ireland.

“We really enjoyed joining in with the Tiny Tots group as they created a vibrant woodland scene. Constructive play is an excellent way to develop social and motor skills as well as stimulate little imaginations.”

Larne Athletic Club Chairman, Andy Gregg, said:

“Action for Children is a voice for the most vulnerable and neglected children in Northern Ireland and across the UK.

“The Club is proud of not just encouraging health and active living in Larne, but through these charitable gifts to support a wide range of groups. With over 1,000 people enjoying the stunning Antrim Coast scenery on a glorious day, this year was our best ever event and I’m hopeful that the word-of-mouth factor will help the race to continue to grow from strength to strength.”
